This is a personal portfolio and blog. It uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic — which writing lands, and where readers come from. That's the whole reason analytics is here. This page explains what that means in plain terms.
/ What's measured
Google Analytics 4 records aggregate, non-identifying usage: which pages you view, approximate location (country / region — derived from your IP at Google's edge, which this site does not log), device and browser type, how you arrived, and a small set of engagement events (resume views, demo interactions, outbound links to GitHub / LinkedIn / email, shares). No names, emails, or precise locations are collected by this site, and none of this data is sold. Advertising cookies and Google Signals are off — ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization stay denied for everyone.
/ Consent by region
Visitors in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland see a cookie banner before analytics cookies are set. Analytics storage stays denied until you Accept (or stays denied if you Reject). Elsewhere, analytics cookies may be set by default so the site can measure traffic; ads-related storage remains denied. Your choice is stored in this browser's localStorage as ga_consent. Your region for this gate is inferred from your browser's timezone — no IP address, geolocation service, or third party is involved.
/ Cookies
When analytics is allowed, GA4 may set first-party cookies (such as _ga) to tell repeat visits apart. They hold a random identifier, not personal information. Block or clear cookies and the site works the same — nothing is gated behind analytics.
/ Your choices
Use Cookie preferencesin the site footer to clear your stored choice (the banner reappears in regulated regions). You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's browser opt-out add-on, block cookies in your browser, or manage Google account data at your Google account. Visitors in the EU, EEA, or UK have rights to access and deletion under GDPR — email me and I'll take care of it.
