UMK3 TAG — v0.4 PREVIEW PATCH PACKAGE (CLEAN ARCADE REV 1.2)
==============================================================
Patch-only builder for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Midway Wolf Unit, rev 1.2).
No Midway ROMs, BIOS files, save states or emulators are included.

WHAT THIS PATCH CHANGES
-----------------------
- Checks every member of your clean Arcade UMK3 rev 1.2 `umk3.zip` by size,
CRC32 and SHA-256 (or reads only the nested `umk3.zip` entry inside an outer
FBNeo collection ZIP). A modified or different revision is refused.
- Leaves your original `umk3.zip` untouched.
- Changes only the two 512 KB program EPROMs, in place, same sizes:
  * `l1.2_mortal_kombat_3_u54_ultimate.u54` (28,466 changed bytes)
  * `l1.2_mortal_kombat_3_u63_ultimate.u63` (26,839 changed bytes)
All graphics and DCS sound ROMs are copied byte for byte.

QUICK START — WINDOWS (INBOX POWERSHELL, NO PYTHON NEEDED)
----------------------------------------------------------
1. Extract this ZIP into a new writable folder.
2. Drag your clean `umk3.zip` onto `BUILD UMK3 TAG PREVIEW.cmd`
(or put a copy of `umk3.zip` next to it and double-click).
   PowerShell alternative:
powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\Patch-UMK3Tag.ps1 -Development -RomPath "C:\path\to\umk3.zip" -OutputDirectory ".\output"
3. Load `output\umk3.zip` from a separate ROM folder with the stock `umk3`
driver in MAME or FinalBurn Neo. Keep a clean backup. Never mix patched and
unpatched copies between two players online.

QUICK START — MACOS AND LINUX (PYTHON 3.9+, NOTHING TO INSTALL)
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. Extract this ZIP into a writable folder.
2. Run:
   python3 patch_umk3_tag.py --development /path/to/clean/umk3.zip
3. Load `output/umk3.zip` from a separate ROM folder with the stock `umk3` driver.

CONTROLS
--------
- Tag: HP+HK. Your partner comes in with a homing jump kick. The fighter going
out backflips away in a win pose and can't be hit on the way out.
- Assist (Kameo): LP+LK. In Modern mode, hold a direction with it: Forward,
Back, Up or Down call the partner's other moves (Forward Sub-Zero drops the
  Ice Shower on the opponent).
- Kombo Breaker: Forward+Block while you're being hit. Your partner cuts in.
- Team Fatal Blow (Modern): Block+LP+LK at low health, once a match.
- Brutality: Block+Run+HP up close at FINISH HIM.
- Rain: Lightning = Down+Back+HP. Mind Control Orb = Down+Forward+LP (hold a
direction while the opponent floats to steer them). Super Roundhouse =
Back+HK. At FINISH HIM, Down+Forward+HP is the Deadly Uppercut up close and
the lightning fatality from about half a screen.
- Babality for the hidden fighters (Ermac, Classic Sub-Zero, Human Smoke,
Noob Saibot, Rain, Chameleon, Khameleon): Down+Back+LK at FINISH HIM.
- VS screen: Up/Down picks the stage, Block+Up turns on tournament rules
(WaveNet rules plus a kombo limit: nothing connects once one fighter has
taken 12 hits without recovering), Start skips to the fight.
- Modern controls are the default. Block+Start on the select screen switches
your side to Classic (plain six buttons: no Kameo directions, no Fatal Blow).
- Pick two different fighters per team. Rain, Chameleon and Khameleon are on
  the select grid.
- Beat both fighters on a team to win the round (best two of three).

WHAT'S NEW IN v0.4
------------------
See CHANGELOG.txt. Short version: Rain has his Trilogy kit. His moves use
Midway's own art from the stock graphics ROMs (the lightning from Nightwolf's
fatality, Reptile's forceball recolored as a water orb), the orb steers, he
has both Trilogy fatalities, his name and colors are right from Round 1, and
the arcade ROM's unused "RAIN WINS" line finally prints. The hidden fighters
get Babalities, tournament rules get a kombo limit, and training mode is gone.

VERIFIED AND NOT VERIFIED
-------------------------
Checked on the Wolf Unit research core (FBNeo) and with this Python patcher on
a clean rev 1.2 set; see RELEASE.json for every receipt and its tier.
Not verified yet: native Windows PowerShell 5.1 on a Windows machine, physical
arcade controllers, original Wolf Unit hardware, and two matched machines
online in Fightcade. Report what you see on morphus56k.com.
