# DHC v9.3.3 — combo-breaker presentation update

Combo breaker now has an actual native super opening: the animated super background, a short flash, **COMBO BREAKER** text drawn by MVC1's own HUD renderer, and the stock Tech Hit cue. The complete lifebars and portraits stay visible. The new effects and message clear after use.

- Press **LK+MP** together during an ordinary opposing point fighter's normal combo in **DHC REMIX**. A fresh press spends **one whole bar**, performs the native escape hop and gives **40 eligible game-clock ticks** of protection. The new opening freezes native gameplay for **18 logical ticks**; that pause does not consume the protection timer.
- Mid-screen, corner and crouching-combo escapes were observed with ordinary controller inputs, including P2. Each spent one bar once, survived a held input without another charge, expired, allowed later damage and cleaned up its message/background/flash.
- DHC Classic and the sampled Hyper refusal still reject the breaker without spending meter or displaying its effects. Owner, clock and reset checks were tightened alongside the presentation update.
- Sampled X-Factor activation/expiry and resurrection/drain/X-Factor-pause regressions passed on the new candidate.

Everything else carries forward from v9.3.2: the DHC routes and beam repairs, nine REMIX palettes, secret-character portraits, Roll's added moves, three-bar meter and DHC Classic/REMIX menu. X-Factor stays manual, once per team and last-surviving-character only, with eligible speed boost, Red Venom/Gold War Machine exclusions and Jin stacking. Resurrection stays limited to **Morrigan, Lilith, Orange Hulk and Roll**.

Choose **REMIX** at STYLE, then **DHC Classic** or **DHC REMIX** at RULES. Classic keeps the route/cancel repairs and nine colors while disabling X-Factor, resurrection and combo breaker. ARCADE retains the original gameplay/color rules.

## Install

Use a clean encrypted Euro 980123 `mvsc.zip`. The Windows CMD and Python patcher produce the same patched member bytes. The installer accepts equivalent repacked archives and the optional-key 20-member set, validates each required member, preserves your input and refuses an already patched archive.

Keep the clean archive. Rename a copy of the generated `mvsc_dhc_v9.3.3.zip` to `mvsc.zip` in a separate emulator ROM folder. The downloads contain patch data, installer source, documentation and evidence; no ROM, key, emulator or save state is included. The README supplies the complete installation command.

## Test scope and remaining checks

This is a community-testing release. Eight bounded local MAME 0.287 CPS2/QSound HLE diagnostics, three exact native captures and independent archive/media audits bind the new candidate. The native Tech Hit sound command was observed entering the sound queue; audible downstream sound remains a community check. The ROM's graphics, sound/QSound and key members are unchanged.

Native Windows CMD/PowerShell 5.1, Fightcade rollback, physical-controller setup, full-roster supers, broader emulator performance, lingering projectile pressure, unusual Hulk/Mega Man/Roll states and older Roll/Spider-Man sound reports remain unverified. The short opening freeze is intentional; these tests do not claim universal slowdown removal. X-Factor and resurrection are MVC1 adaptations rather than complete Ultimate MVC3 move/physics parity.

The new three-scenario video shows actual ROM-rendered text and effects at native speed, with full HUD and native audio. Its labels sit outside the game picture. Original v8 artwork and trailer remain historical media on the blog.

Thanks to Artful, EliasTobii, oldDave and the other community testers for the reports. N41's earlier native palette/layout research and input remain credited with PalMod and the individual palette authors in the included palette documents.
